Overall Purpose
Our client are a consumer service platform for 3G mobile who deliver Video, Advertising E-Commerce and Mobile Interactive Services via an end to end mobile client management solution. This will include enterprise server applications, UI/UE & a highly functional content Delivery system.
The role of Architect is to Architect and develop Systems and Applications across supported device side platforms.
The role requires someone with a balanced mix of creative design and developer discipline and strong architectural skill.
Experience working in a software product company is highly desirable as is a process driven approach to work. Working in start-up company environment with loosely defined specifications and to tight deadlines is also nice to have. This is the main Technical Lead role, and critical to the architecture of the successful product with a strong emphasis on new feature development.
Responsibilities
• Work with Product Management/Technical Director and Sales to translate requirements into product specifications and storyboards.
• Develop reference Product templates that can be readily repurposed for different devices and different end customers.
• Define a winning strategy to achieve architectural project deadlines, possibly to include the use of outsourcing partners
• Develop documentation/user guides for QA and professional services
• Interface to Product Management, Mentoring. Coaching and possibly Hiring other Engineers in the team and test staff
• Weekly reporting of progress against published plans
Experience and Skills
• Strength in Architectural Product Design (OO Design, UML, Refactoring)
• HTML/XML, CSS and Javascript for desktop and ideally for mobile platforms
• UI design experience, preferably on mobile/embedded devices
• Hands on experience with RSS
• Knowledge of graphics formats, optimisation and manipulation
• Experience of XSL Transformations, XPath and XML schema.
• Understanding of database concepts (basic DBA skill) such as replication, performance tuning, security in either Oracle, MySQL or SQL Server
• Actionscript experience – nice to have
• Knowledge and experience of SVG/Formats for describing UI’s - ideally
• Mobile Platform Experience is nice to have (Symbian, BREW, J2ME, MS Mobile / Windows CE, WeComm)
• Ability to create and work to Project Schedules
• Good team player – essential
• Self starter - essential
• Technical knowledge and experience on mobile software and technologies
• Effective communicator,
• Fluent in English language (at least written)
