Position Summary
The Institute for Sustainable Communities (ISC) is looking for EHS ( Environment, Health and Safety) Academy Marketing & Outreach Manager candidates to focus on engaging and convincing our potential clients about their role in supporting the EHS Academy for the company’s sustainability efforts. Individual will manage the marketing and outreach efforts, including correspondence, visits, conferences, websites, newspapers and other channels with our clients and partners. Work with our donors, sponsors and partners to support the EHS Academy success. Utilize various media/means of communicating and engaging our clients to participate in EHS Academy initiatives. Measure and report on the EHS business plan. The position requires strong communication, marketing, outreaching, presentation and organizational skills, attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines, a strong ability to track and prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment, a high level of energy and strong interpersonal skills as well as excellent oral and written communications.

The position requires a person who is committed to ISC’s mission, works well under pressure and is a proactive problem solver.

The Institute for Sustainable Communities (ISC) is an independent nonprofit organization with 18 years of experience providing training, technical assistance, and financial support to communities, nongovernmental organizations, businesses, and governments. ISC combines expertise in institutional development and community capacity building with environmental and resource efficiency—taking a result-oriented, business-minded approach to improving people’s lives and the earth’s ecosystem.
The EHS Academy is one of four components of ISC’s Guangdong Environmental Partnership program in Guangdong. The first not-for-profit professional EHS training academy has been established in Sun Yat-sen University. The objective of the Academy is to expand the pool of qualified EHS managers in China. The Academy has also been working with the Ministry of Human Resources and Social Security of China to establish the first-ever government certification protocol for EHS professionals, which should be in place by 1Q 2010.

Duties and Responsibilities
- Develop and put into action impactful and strategic marketing, outreaching, communication, and partner engagement campaigns to accelerate the EHS Academy propaganda and recruitment.
- Develop and maintain appropriate communication channels and tools for EHS Academy recruitment, i.e. video, twitter, blog, website, posters, flyers, brochures, email, newsletter, and CRM etc.
- Measure and report consistently on outcomes of each phase initiatives against the EHS Academy business plan
- Maintain relations with partners, donors and sponsors
- Build and maintain relations with clients
- Work with the team and partner to meet clients’ expectations and requirements
- Coordinate with ISC home office on marketing and outreaching issues
- Any other tasks as assigned


Qualifications and Skills
•Working experience in EHS or CSR-related marketing, outreach, and/or consulting programs with Multinational Corporations or with the factory supply-chain in Guangdong;
•Is familiar with brands and the supply chain management;
•Has wide and rich relations with brands and/or MNCs;
•Knowledge of Guangdong province;
•Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including public speaking and presentation skills;
•Excellent written and spoken communications skills;
•Demonstrated ability to track multiple and sometimes competing priorities;
•Is proactive and follows through;
•Able to develop successful outcomes/products from concepts;
•Professional and pleasant demeanor;
•Ability to work independently and collaboratively;
•Must possess a strong work ethic, personal integrity, and sensitivity to people from different countries/cultures;
•Possesses above average skills in computer;
•Ability to assume increasing levels of responsibility as program grows;
•Is able to travel easily to Hong Kong, sometimes out of China;
•Fluent in both Mandarin Chinese and English, Cantonese is a plus.
