Job Location: Suzhou
Job Responsibilities:
• primary accountabilities are to look after the principal’s interest and maintain regular contact
• act as a liaison with customers in the Chinese market, including supporting the Senior Market Manager in negotiating sales and following up with credit or logistics concerns
• focus will be on those companies consuming zircon; however, the incumbent will be called upon to support calls to TiO2 pigment companies as and when necessary
• ensure that the company is professionally perceived by customers and that the incumbent’s actions are aligned with the company’s policies and procedures
• be responsible for maintaining shipping schedules, forecasting sales and providing regular sales and marketing reports
• regularly visit and monitor the performance of companies involved in the warehousing and handling of the principal’s products, including monthly visits to warehouse locations to ensure that the material is properly stored in a clean and safe manner
• maintain constructive relationships with the logistics service providers, port officials and customs authorities
• be responsible for maintaining a database on the supply and demand of zircon in China, which includes the monthly monitoring, compiling and interpretation of trade statistics
• collect information on customers, competitors and end-use trends with the purpose of supporting the development of marketing strategies and strengthening the principal’s position as a key supplier to the Chinese marketplace
Key Requirements:
• bachelor’s degree in Chemistry or Engineering, with an international business background an asset
• over 10 years’ sales experience in related industries
• engineering or technical experience a plus
• some marketing training an asset
• high quality interpretation skills are critical
• multi-lingual (English, Mandarin) capability essential
• advanced computer (Microsoft Office) and organising skills
• chemical and engineering know-how is needed to properly understand the customer’s needs
• travelling required
