Our client is the leading provider of news and information for the global forest products industry. They publish websites, newsletters, magazines, reports, databases and more.
They are looking for a senior journalist to be based in Shanghai and oversee a team of journalists in offices in Singapore, Shanghai and Brussels.
Job responsibilities:
• Oversee the Asian and European editorial teams that produce news and market reporting, including reporting of pulp and paper prices
• Supervise a team of 8 journalists
• Report on Chinese pulp and paper markets
• Improve coverage of pulp and paper markets in China and throughout Asia
• Help develop news and information products for the Chinese market
Required skills/experience:
Ability to speak Mandarin Chinese and English fluently, well enough to speak, write and edit in both languages.
Business journalism or related experience (e.g. research, analysis)
Experience managing people
Demonstrated leadership
At least 7 years of relevant experience
Desired skills/experience:
Entrepreneurial skills and experience – the demonstrated ability to create new products, initiatives or ways of working
Experience working for a Western company
Experience living in a Western country
Experience managing people of multiple nationalities
Knowledge of pulp and paper or related industrial sectors
