Our client is a leading provider of upstream oil and gas production facilities, process systems, technology and products.
The company now seeks a further lawyer to be based in their Singapore office (with regional oversight of Australia and Thailand). The Legal department currently consists of 10 lawyers world wide.
Working with operational management and reporting to the Deputy General Counsel in London, the Legal Counsel will assume responsibility for legal support in connection with the Company’s activities in the region. Duties will include among other things giving advice on and drafting/negotiating commercial agreements; ensuring the company, its partners and agreements are in compliance with the company’s risk parameters and compliance code including conducting due diligence of third parties; general corporate work and advising on risk, disputes and litigation strategy. You will also be responsible for selecting and managing outside counsel.
The successful candidate is likely to be a qualified lawyer practicing in Singapore, Australia, England, Canada or the US from a highly regarded law firm, with excellent academic credentials and a minimum 5 years experience in commercial/corporate law although all candidates with demonstrable ability to fulfill the role will of course be considered. Any experience or understanding of compliance and corporate governance standards will be advantageous.
